Ugly babies, murders and public urination
So we arrive at the middle of the High Street, half way between the Castle and the Queen’s holiday home. Cobbled streets, quirky wee shops and a faint whiff of pish in the air. You’re deep in the old town down here and if you’re really lucky you might just catch sight of a traditional Scottish baby, thankfully they do grow up a lot nicer…
And to the World’s End pub which gained a certain infamy as it was the last place two 17 years old girls were seen alive in 1977. The murders have never been solved despite a lot of speculation and a high profile for many years.
Down Jeffery Street, looking towards the underside of theNorthBridge. Great views from here, look up over the roof of Waveley Station to the old Calton Gaol Governers House and Calton Hill. Little wonder they want it in the shot.
Carrubers Close… looks like a splendid place to be mugged, or it seems, go for a sneaky piddle.
And talking of sneaky public peeing, it seems the newley refurbished Scotsman Steps are also doubling up for a public pissing point. We could solve this eaily by installing electric wires in the floor…
Underneath theNorth Bridge. Stand here, get a sense of the size of the structure and hang about long enough, a present from one of the pigeons sat above you in the beams.
